Marketplace ItemWanted: Daniel Gets BaptizedDec 2, '06 10:41 AM
for everyone
Category:   Other/General

This past Friday night a baptismal service was held at Central Baptist Church here in Songtan (Pyongtaek City), Korea. This was for the SYME students who had recently trusted Christ and publicly wanted their world of family and friends to know through baptism that they are followers of Jesus Christ. For over a year now our son Daniel has communicated to us that he wanted to be baptized. As parents we were concerned, because of his age and personality that he didn't fully understand what he was doing and that he just wanted attention. In Korea, churches don't normally baptize children before they are 12 years old. (For example, there was no baptismal robes his size.) Daniel definitely believes Jesus to be his only Lord and savior. And he has a passion to see people come to know Christ as well. He is very bold in his prayers and in sharing his faith. On his own he interviewed almost all of our staff, asking why they had been baptized. I really believe if he were living in a country where he had to choose between denying his faith or face death he would not deny his faith. We are excited to see how God is going to use our 'DJ' and we were very proud to see him take this step in his faith.

PRAISE GOD!!! My son (10 yrs old) was baptized in Oct. since he was 5 he wanted to b baptized .... like your son he isn't shy about his faith and spreads it to others .... in the school bus he is heard telling other about Jesus during the christmas season ... how santa and Jesus are different and that he much prefer Jesus over santa :)
I don't have to tell you what a mess it was ... Well, thru it all my son stood firm year after year ..always choosing God over santa and lifting God over all things ....
Our church baptizes after the child turns 12 also ... So you can imagine how my son felt when he was told that he needed to wait .... he was crushed ... then one night after Bible study he asked " what does the Bible say about being baptized before 12 years old?" I was shocked ..... he then asked me how old were each men that was baptized .....

now I did tell him that the Bible says MEN were baptized no mention of a CHILD ..... to which he took and kept silent ....
a month later we moved out of the state and while visiting a church .. the Pastor ask " is there any one who wants to accept Christ as their savior and tonight be baptized ...?"
well, Like lightening before I can blink ..... my 10 yr old son ran to the front and said " me!"

I wanted to stop him bcuz I was afraid he was too young to understand the true meaning of baptism ... but I was more afraid that if I stopped him ... God would hold me accountable for it .....
so I stood frozen with fear ... fear that I was making a mistake for allowing him to be baptized and fear from God ... bcuz I didn't want to hurt or offend God .... and I sure didn't want God angry with me ...
what if it WAS OK with god that my son be baptized this early in his life .... what if my son really DID know what baptism really meant ???
so many thots ran thru my mind yet I couldn't speak or move.....

then the Pastor asked my son serval questions to which my son proudly answered .....
all his answered were according to a believer .... so there stood my sons while a huge smile ..... having accepted God
as his savior like a man and was baptized .......
his first words were ... "I am a new man...my sins have been washed away.I am forgiven"

you can imagine my heart and mind ... I was shocked to hear his words and proud all at once .....
PRAISE BE TO GOD!!! I love to see more of God's work thru my young son and his older brother :)

CONGRATZ to you and your son ... ((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))

I am not surprised. He seems to be surrounded by great examples of faithful family (your parents and brother included). Also the mission he sees people excepting Christ as their personal savior. Another thing if he has listen to your sermons and your testimony then it should be no surprise to you either.

I had listen to the Word sense I was 4 years old and at 8 I received God as my personal savior; but because I did not have good role models (your son does) I listen to the wrong advice. I thank the Lord that after 6 years the Lord come to get me and for that expression of love I testify today I am a daughter of God.

I take my hat off to your son for going the extra mile in also asking others how they feel.

That is awesome! It sounds like Daniel is following in the footsteps of the Daniel in the Bible when it comes to being bold about his faith. :)
